Peter A Richardson

Peter was born in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire and started to play the Cornet at the age of 6 by his father who was a brass instrument teacher. At the age of 9, Peter joined his first brass band of which his father conducted. In 1999 at the age of 17 Peter decided to join the Territorial Army as a Cornet / Trumpet player and which he stayed for 3 years.

In 2002 Peter joined the Royal Marines School of Music as a Cornet Player, Violinist and Vocalist. In 2005 he graduated and was drafted to the Band of HM Royal Marines, Commando Training Centre, Lympstone, Devon where he served 2 and a half years.

In December 2007, Peter left the Royal Marines and moved back to North Lincolnshire where he started to play and then took over a Musical Director of Barrow Brass Band.

In January 2008, Peter was appointed the Principal Cornet of the Royal Logistic Corps Band and travelled all around Europe including Germany, Cyprus, Sweden and Gibraltar.

In September 2008, Peter decided to go and study at Salford University reading Music. After completing years one and two, Peter decided to leave Manchester and move back to North Lincolnshire and complete his third and final year at the University of Hull. Peter now holds a Bacholar of Music with Honours Degree.

In October 2012, Peter decided to step away from the Military of which he had served 13 years. (1999 to 2012) and pursue a career as a freelance musician. Over the past few years, Peter has had the opportunity of playing within plenty of show bands, tribute bands and also celebrity bands. (The Jam’d, The Drifters, Paul Weller, Engleburt Humperdink, Jimmy Cricket and many more)

Whilst at University, Peter has had the opportunity to play with many of the top brass bands within the United KIndom including: The Black Dyke Band, Grimethorpe Colliery Band, The Fairys Band, Yorkshire Building Society Band, Barton Town Band and East Yorkshire Motor Services Band.

Peter Now currently works as a Musical Director and Lead Trumpet for Royal Caribbean International. Travelling around the world performing in the ships orchestra.
