Gordon is one of Scotland’s most versatile vocalists, and musicians performing full-time as a function, wedding, corporate event and tribute entertainer across the UK, and also as an original artist.

Gordon began his schooling at St Mary’s Music School, Edinburgh, and as a chorister at the cathedral, then moving on to Fettes College on a full Music Scholarship in 2006. He graduated from there in 2011 having won 4 consecutive school singing competitions, 1 instrumental and 1 piano competition, and also completed his Grade 8 in Voice (143/150 Distinction) and ‘Cello (Merit), and his Grade 6 in Piano (Distinction), playing to Grade 8 standard. He has competed in several Edinburgh International Music Festival classes, winning many including Gold in a vocal recital class in 2010. Gordon clearly has a lot of knowledge of how to help his pupils succeed in a school music environment and beyond. He performed in both the 2011 and 2012 Edinburgh International Festivals, firstly as a one man show, and in 2012 as part of a professional musical theatre review. Then in 2019, he was selected to originate the part of ‘Kiran’ in a professional production of the new musical ‘Quantum’ at the Fringe.

After school, Gordon went on to study classical voice at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, securing a Diploma in Higher Education (Music Performance) before dedicating his talents towards the study of an honours degree in Popular Music. He graduated with a First Class BA (hons) in Performance Industries from the University of Wolverhampton in association with The Academy of Music and Sound, Glasgow in September 2017. Since graduating, one of the stems of his music business has been performing as a session musician for recordings of dozens of tracks, tracking ‘cello, piano, guitar, bass, drums or vocals. Throughout his studies, he learned how to record high-quality audio in many different recording studios, and now also has a lot of skill as an audio engineer, so can produce fantastic recordings for his pupils at very competitive rates!

His extensive vocal training qualifications give him the ability to perform everything from classical music to chart-topping pop in a way which is captivating and genuine, whilst retaining his own personality throughout. With over 8 years of experience as a one-to-one vocal coach, Gordon employs a literal and research-based approach to his teaching, having completed level 1 & 2 courses in Estill Voice Training, and subsequently spent hundreds of hours applying it in practice both himself, and coaching at levels ranging from beginner to degree-level musical theatre study.

His passion for singing and performance is undeniable and in many ways infectious. Stepping into the studio with Gordon you will find yourself in a relaxed environment where mistakes are encouraged, and where he is guaranteed to make even stranger noises than the ones he’s asking you to produce! Rest assured though that if you’re a singer, your voice is in safe hands with a teacher who understands what it’s like to stand on a stage and deliver top-quality vocal performance. Gordon can help to maximise your potential as a vocalist, whilst maintaining safe vocal practice and planting the technical seeds required for vocal longevity.

Having recently gained certificates of completion in Estill Vocal Training levels 1 and 2, Gordon has an advanced knowledge of the biological structures of the larynx, and how best to manipulate these in order to create a versatility and control of sound, whilst always maintaining safe and healthy vocal practice. This puts him in a very advantageous position to teach singers with a range of vocal ability and in a huge variety of styles and genres.

He has experience teaching very young children, having taught languages to children from 4 months to 7 years at Le Beaumont Language School in Hong Kong, and he has very successfully led children through graded music exams and school performances/competitions as well as auditions for further study. He knows how to get the best results from young children as well as teenagers and adults.
